Colibri was founded in 1928 when the German Julius Lowenthal created the first semi-auto lighter "Colibri Original" in a try to upgrade the classic lighters. Soon the company started incorporating silver, gold, onyx and pearls into the design of their elegant lighters. It was in 1935 when the first fully automatic lighter "Colibri Monopoly" won the title of the most famous lighter of all time and promised continued lighting for 100 continuous times. Today the Colibri lighters pass special tests and promise over 20.000 lightings.
The company created in 1958 the first see-through filling system with butane and the automatic, hydraulic lighting system. In 1962 Colibri patented the Piezo lighting mechanism, the first one to provide flame without the use of battery or rocks but with small charges from crystals, changing the world of lighters.
Today the company loved by James Bond continues to innovate with creative ideas extending to men accessories like writing supplies, jewelry, leather items etc designed in London.
