Plasencia was founded by Nestor Plasencia, who was born in 1950 in Cuba from a tobacco cultivating family. During the revolution in Cuba, the family moved to Nicaragua until the early 80s, when they were forced to move again due to the revolution of the Santanistas. They moved to the Honduras where they continued cultivating tobacco. Today, since 1922, the family operates two cigar factories in Nicaragua. The company produces more than 30 different cigars and for 80% of the produce they use Nicaraguan or Honduran tobacco.
