The company was founded under the name Quintero y Hermanos when Agustin Quintero and his four brothers opened a small cigar factory in the city of Cienfuegos in Cuba in 1924 and started to produce hand-made cigars. They are one of the few companies which do not make cigars in Vuelta Abajo.
They quickly became a commercial success in Cuba and outside of it and they started making more shapes and sizes. In 1940 they started to use tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo area. In 1960 they turned to producing cigars with machines with a handmade finish. In 2002 the production was again handmade. Quintero cigars are characterized for the herb and sweet flavor and they are of medium to full intensity.
