Peterson – Pipe of the Year 2009 Ebony (Fishtail) Tobacco Pipe

202.00

Peterson’s 2009 Pipe of the Year was a large bent Brandy with a long taper towards the rim and quite a stout shank. For the most part then it’s a pretty conservative shape. One interesting feature however is the way the transition and base of the shank are pinched, as viewed from above, which does a good job of allowing for that stout look of the shank while also keeping it out of the way of the base of your thumb.

In London in 1865, two German brothers, George and Frederick Kapp, established a pipe-making business. George Kapp & Co. In 1874, Frederick decoded to strike out on his own and moved to Dublin to continue his pipe making endeavours. A year later,a young Latvian, Charles Peterson, joined the business. Charles brought with him two great assets: a creative instict for designing pipes plus outstanding craftmanship. It was a powerful combination. In time, Kapp & Peterson became simply Peterson. And the rest is a continuing story of heritage and history, innovation and individuality.
