\u2022 Avo Uvezian (1926-2017) is a symbol of jazz music and premium handmade cigars. Born in Lebanon to a musical family, he developed his talent in piano and jazz from an early age.<\/p>\n
\u2022 In 1947 he arrived in New York where he played multiple bands while continuing his studies on classical piano. At that time, AVO did the original composition of Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night”. He later found himself in Puerto Rico where he was involved in the jewelry market. But in 1974 the music called him back and he started playing his favorite musical instrument again.<\/p>\n
\u2022 During this time he made a critical observation: people came not only to listen to music but also because they liked to enjoy their cigar. So Avo used to buy some local cigars every night to put on the piano for anyone who wanted to smoke<\/p>\n
\u2022 The constant search for the best cigars brought Avo to the Dom. Republic where he met with Davidoff’s master blender, Henke Kelner, and in 1987 the first AVO cigars were created in the US.<\/p>\n
\u2022 In 1995, Davidoff bought the brand’s distribution rights and within 10 years AVO saw its cigars grow from 5,000 cigars to 3.2 million cigars.<\/p>\n
\u2022 AVO, on his 90th birthday, told those who asked him what his secret was that every time you smoke cigars, you have given your day an extra day. He aspired to do so by the age of 99 to say he could go to 100.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
