Le Hoyo Du Maire is the smallest of the cigars in the Le Hoyo series and is reminiscent of the rest of the series in taste. It is a cigar that burns very evenly and is easy to smoke. It does not require much time but within this time it manages to render the tango and sweet aroma of the wood with moderate intensity of smoke. Excellent cigar for novice smokers to help train their palate for more complex flavors. Aging can help it bring out its quality, flavor and aromas more strongly.

Hoyo de Monterrey is established on its own land in the city of San Luis y Martinez in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region. Access to the plantation is through a gate in the town’s central square with the inscription “Hoyo de Monterrey, Jose Gener 1860”. The word “Hoyo” literally means “hole” and in this case describes the low elevation of the plantation, near the banks of the Juan y Martinez River. Jose Gener first used this name on a brand of Habanos in 1865. All Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are handmade “totalmente a mano” and long filler “tripa larga”.
