Description
Winds play a significant role in tobacco cultivation. They indicate the best times and locations for cultivation. At La Galera, they delved into history and discovered the Greeks understood the importance of winds.
The Greeks had wind gods, known as Anemoi. Each direction had its own god: Boreas (North), Notos (South), Eurus (East), and Zephyrus (West). Each wind direction could either aid or hinder crop growth. Due to this, José Arnaldo Blanco felt it was important to pay homage to them.
In the Dominican Republic, a balance of winds often yields the best results, where each wind can either enhance or diminish the quality of tobacco.
