H. UPMANNH. Upmann was founded in 1844 when the German banker, Herman Upmann started using as business gifts, specially printed cigar boxes. He has won 7 medals in international shows from 1862 till 1893. Images of those medals exist in the insides of the cigar boxes today. The company was sold in 1922 to the British company J.Frankau and in 1935 was sold to Mendez and Garcia y Cia. They are still being manufactured in the H.Upmann factories known as Jose Marti.
