The Fonseca company was founded in the 1890s by Don Francisco Fonseca. He was a handsome man who cared a lot about his appearance, something that went into the production of his cigars by wrapping them in silk paper wrappers. This tradition continues to this day for the 4 cigars of this company. Fonseca are made from tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region and have a light flavor. All are made “totalmente a mano” (ie they are 100% handmade) and in three of them the “tripa larga” or “long filler” method is used, while in the 4th the “tripa corta” or “short filler” method is used.
